Some of the rules make sense, some don't. The 22-line rule doesn't make sense really, but the one about less penalty kicks does. I've played rugby for five years, and playing against a team that just scores on penalties is....frustrating. This also introduces rugby players into 'taking the penalty'. You know, when soccer players fall down and cry after the ball hits their shins? I don't like the 5m back from the scrum bull, or the elimination of corner posts, but whatever. Personally, I like starting mauls, so anybody who thinks they are boring is either a spectator who knows nothing, or a back.

Rugby is broken. Just ask the New Zealand RFU. Look at the RFU in England over the last 5 years. Scotland? People said the line-out contest would be over once lifting was allowed, and now the line-out is more dynamic than ever. I guess i just don't see a bunch of amateur, old, out-of-shape ruggers playing some professional, fit fast team very soon. There will be a slow transition in players and style and I suspect people will hardly notice.

Sorry but you can't tell me these law changes are going to encourage your level 9-11 45 year old 20 stone prop to keep playing the game. This is taking the game we love away from a huge passionate group of players and is rubbish. Rugby is not broke why are we trying ti fix it?

Apparently Hugh Jarse of the IRFU has been quoted as saying that the IRFU hasn't ruled out suing, under the belief that the Rim job offer was illegal

Very good. The "rim job" line cracked me up, but it wasn't until I read the acronym "TARD" that I figured it out.

I agree. I think he'll be great as TARD. He might have trouble getting others to be beneath him, but we'll see.

I love how the IRFU is so quick to slam the IRB for "snatching" O'Sullivan from their pool of coaches. What would they call what happened to O'Sullivan as the Ireland's head coach? I for one have no doubts O'Sullivan's "resignation" was heavily encouraged by the IRFU. I don't know O'Sullivan's coaching record or success with the Eagles, but Ireland had their best years under him. O'Sullivan could have better success as an administrator than a coach as is the case with some. He wasn't a bad coach, but he never did bring Ireland to that next level.

I actually meant to say 72, since they're ranked 91. Don't start slinging mud at Ireland!

Course, they only have to qualify, not actually jump 22 places. Any given Sunday...er, Saturday I mean. Just be happy Ireland doesn't have to qualify against Vanuatu!
