Sale Sharks have confirmed that Russian lock Andrei Ostrikov has signed a new two-year contract at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The 29-year-old, who has won 26 caps for his country, joined the Aviva Premiership club from Aurillac in 2011 and has made over 100 appearances since.

Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “When I first saw Andrei play, I spotted his massive potential.

“He was one of my first signings, and he is a player who gives everything both on and off the field. He plays hard, trains hard and never takes a backward step. He is well-respected by the whole squad, and it’s great to get his signature on a new contract.”

Sale currently lie in 10th place in the table.
